Introduction
An Open Call was launched to support European SME and Mid-Cap companies in experimenting with Flexible & Wearable Electronics (FWE) technologies through Application Experiments (AEs) lasting 9-12 months — a test before invest experience to promote the uptake of FWE technologies and their adoption by industrial actors. AEs were selected on the basis of disruptive product ideas and business potential, for an average of 60k€ support per AE, supplied as a voucher. Applicants were invited to submit their proposals in the areas of their choice, whether medical & health, textiles, sports, consumer electronics, packaging & logistics, etc.
The Open Call resulted in the evaluation, selection, contracting, execution, and delivery of 44 AEs during the 2021-22 period, for a total funding of 2.84M€.
Each selected Application Experiment benefited from a range of technical services- provided either by SmartEEs competence centres (CEA, CPI, TNO, VTT, EUT, FHG, IMEC and CeNTI) or other Third Parties affiliated to SmartEEs Community (selected from our Technical Marketplace where you can discover or offer validated flexible and wearable electronics technologies). Technical services were complemented by a set of non-technical services by SmartEEs innovation and business developers – BLM, EBN and AMI or other Third Parties affiliated to SmartEEs Community (selected from our Business Marketplace where you can discover or offer validated flexible and wearable electronics technologies).
